Lindner Bräu,Bad Kötzting

A quirky brewery in a town called Bad Kötzting in Bavaria, near the Czech border. Traditional beer garden that features an Umpapa band some days that complements the food and the beer.

Slightly unusual in that they also sell take-away beer at the brewery, many of these smaller breweries only sell vom fass (draught beer). This year I did buy some bottled beer - the Hell and a Pils. Oddly, the Pils is only available in a small (33cl) bottle in the beer garden.

Hell is 5% and the Pils 4.8% so both are on the lighter side.

Their beers are organic and only last a few weeks, so if you buy any take-away, you need to be sure that you drink it fairly quickly. This isn’t generally a problem!

Good refreshing beer, good head. Maybe the ambience of the place adds to the taste of the beer, but a damn fine beer at any rate.

I rate them both at 7.5/10

With beer and traditional German food at the brewery, 2014.

Bottled Pils at the brewery, 2022. For some reason they don’t appear to sell it in draught form - and then only in these little piddly bottles….

The Umpapa band at Lindner Brau. Gotta love it.
